Scholarship of $1,200.00 is available to members in good standing or children/legal wards of members in good standing who are continuing their education beyond high school.
Those eligible are members who have been in good standing for 12 consecutive months and/or children or legal wards of a member who has been in good standing for more than 12 consecutive months on August 1st of the year for which the application is made.
The Scholarship is for attendance in a minimum two-year program at any university, community college or recognized school of nursing and applicants must show proof of enrolment.
Applicants must submit with the application form a 500 word essay on the subject “How has being a son/daughter/dependant/sibling of a union member impacted my life” and send it to CEP Local 506, 50 Crown Street, Suite 201, Saint John, NB E2L 2X6 no later than July 15th. Applicants can submit essay in language of choice.
The award shall be made in two installments of $600.00 each; one installment upon enrolment and one at mid-term upon receipt of transcript of marks. Winner and alternates will be selected by a random draw.
The successful applicant, alternate and unsuccessful applicants will be notified immediately following the drawing of the award. Qualified applicants may re-apply annually.
