Message to Members:

As you know, 65% of voting CEPACC members rejected the recent tentative agreement with Bell Aliant which had been negotiated through the Common Interest Forum (CIF) process.

Last week, the Common Interest Forum met in St. John’s to discuss the outcome of the vote and to consider next steps.

Given the percentages on the vote and the feedback received from members at the ratification meetings, it was decided by the Forum to step back and to take some time to reflect on the situation. There is clearly a need for more openness in the process, and to that end, the CEPACC representatives on the CIF will be meeting with the provincial locals’ leadership to discuss the matter thoroughly, share more information and seek their advice. Meetings have been scheduled with local executive boards through the early part of July.

Following the local executive board meetings, the Common Interest Forum will meet August 3rd and 4th to review the process and to consider how to proceed.

In solidarity,

Your CEPACC Executive

Penny Fawcett, Chairperson           Phil Briffet, Vice-Chairperson

Chuck Rouse                                Noel Pauley

Mary Croke, Rec. Secretary            Joyclin Coates, Treasurer
